MNVP Waltham Forest Chair - Yvonne Sulola

About Yvonne

Hi, my name is Yvonne Sulola and I am the Waltham Forest MNVP chair. I am a mummy of 3 and work as a local doula and hypnobirthing instructor. I strive to ensure that the voices of women and birthing people who access maternity services are heard. I am passionate about working to improve our local maternity services.

My role involves regular visits to the maternity unit to gather feedback, attending meetings with midwifery & obstetrics teams, and working in collaboration on projects to improve services and care. In order for service improvements to be effective we need to ensure that we truly represent and accommodate the needs of all.

MNVP Tower Hamlets Chair - Apshana Haque

About Apshana

Hi, My name is Apshana Haque, My background is in children's mental health services but what led me to become an MNVP was after my own experience which unfortunately was not the best. It made me reflect on other women in the same situation. I am a confident, open person who struggled to get my voice heard and I couldn't help but wonder how other women from this diverse community must be struggling too.

I want to be their advocate, I want to help improve maternity care for all women from different demographics and backgrounds, and this can only be done through collaborative working. I want to help improve the number of women experience good support from maternity providers and help ensure women' voices are implemented into the planning and designing of their care. This will have an overall positive effect on the service providers and service users.
