Healthwatch Newham Administration and Social Media Officer

 

Salary:                           £24,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Hours:                           2 days per week – the postholder will be required to work on Fridays.

Length of contract:       Fixed Term Contract until March 2025

Reports to:                     Healthwatch Newham Manager

Based at:                        Healthwatch Newham Offices, 2 days per week. Occasional home-working may be considered. 

Probation period:           3 months

Annual leave:                 28 days per annum (pro-rata), excluding bank holidays

Pension payment:         CB Plus will make a pension contribution into a workplace pension scheme

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, committed Healthwatch Newham team as we develop the next stage of our programmes.

The post holder will be highly organised and motivated with strong administrative and social media experience to support the team’s daily activities.

You will be part of a team that has a real say in developing health and social care services and liaises with senior professionals and clinicians to help deliver change for local people.

Healthwatch Newham is part of a national network, led by Healthwatch England, and aims to help local people get the best from their health and social care services and enable residents to contribute to the development of quality health and social care services. We do this through outreach and engagement and delivering projects that review and report on quality and standards. 

Healthwatch Newham is part of CB Plus, an award-winning charity reaching over 1 million Londoners. CB Plus provides a number of community services, including Young People Thrive, Barnet Wellbeing Service and Enfield Connections Information and Advice.

Job description

Administration

  • Manage the information line and email accounts and respond to residents that contact the Healthwatch Newham Information Service by guiding and signposting residents to local services.
  • Further administrative duties including scheduling meetings and taking meeting minutes
  • To contribute to methods for engaging and liaising with local residents to listen to and record their views and experiences of health and social care.
  • To contribute to the communication activities of Healthwatch, including producing leaflets and other promotional material; contributing to the Healthwatch websites and social media; and contributing to articles and press releases and the Healthwatch newsletters.
  • To develop and deliver participation in Healthwatch by developing activities, delivering presentations, staffing stalls at community events, media work and general outreach activities.
  • To write simple reports to reflect local residents’ and others’ feedback.
  • To assist with events as required, including administrative tasks, event management tasks and occasional presentations.

Social media / Website

  • To find, plan and produce social media content relevant to the Health and Social care needs of Newham residents
  • Regularly update the Healthwatch Newham website, with news, advice, new services, and other relevant information upon request.
  • To establish and maintain contacts with a range of communities, charities and voluntary sector organisations, residents, patients, service-users and carers.

Other

  • To work within CB Plus policies regarding confidentiality, health and safety, complaints, and conduct
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

Person specification

General

  • Ability to organise own workload, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience of facilitating groups.
  • Understanding of health and social care structures and relevant legislation and current issues.

Administration Skills

  • Organised, able to forward plan and manage a workload independently, on own initiative and as part of a team, meeting deadlines.
  • Good IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Office, word, Excel, Outlook, and social media

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Understanding of health and social care services. 
  • Good understanding of the needs challenges and issues faced by patients and service-users in diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and good practice in working with children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Experience of applying good practice in relation to equality and diversity.

Communication

  • Understanding of the needs of and issues for patients and service-users.
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative and as part of a small team in a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a range of people using varying methods of communication.

Other

  • Willingness to carry out occasional evening and weekend work and to travel around Newham.
  • Good understanding of the needs and challenges faced by diverse communities
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation in working with children and young people vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will need to undertake a DBS check.

Summary Terms and Conditions

Job Title: Administration & Social Media Officer

Probation Period: 3 months

Contract: Until 31st March 2025 with the potential to continue.

Hours: Part Time –14 hours per week, based on a 35-hour week. Please note the postholder will be required to work on a Friday. The other working day will be agreed on confirmation of the post.

The post holder will be expected to attend occasional evening meetings for which time off in lieu will be given.

Responsible To: Healthwatch Newham Manager

Expenses: Staff may claim travel expenses, at the agreed rate, for journeys which are necessary in the course of their work. Claims for additional expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our expense policy.
